• authorize activity – niezwykle często używane obecnie wyrażenie…w kilku bliskoznacznych kontekstach: umożliwić działanie/ zezwolić na działanie/ legitymizować/ zalegalizować, etc.

W biznesie:

• This is not the activity that our company will authorize as it might be dangerous to our image – To nie jest działalność na którą nasza firma wyrazi zgodę, ponieważ może działać na szkodę naszego wizerunku.

W czasie kilku ostatnich spotkań szkoleniowych online, pojawiły się wątpliwości co do formy liczby mnogiej od ważnych rzeczowników:

• criterion (kryterium) – liczba mnoga: criteria
• phenomenon (zjawisko) – liczba mnoga: phenomena
• datum (informacja, fakt, wielkość liczbowa, czynnik) – liczba mnoga (dane liczbowe, statystyczne, informacje): data

Język angielski w tym przypadku korzysta ze słów pochodzących z języka greckiego, zachowuje nieregularną w tym przypadku liczbę mnogą, bez zwyczajowej dla języka angielskiego końcówki’s’.

Dlatego w przykładach:

• biznes: What are the most important criteria for the recruitment of new candidates.
• lotnictwo: Windshear and unexpected turbulence are dangerous weather phenomena

Przydatne w wielu kontekstach języka branżowego:

Medycyna:

Biznes:

The persistence of the negative indicators makes all the accountants  in the company very concerned – Stałość/ nieustępliwość negatywnych wskaźników, sprawia, że wszyscy księgowi w firmie są bardzo zaniepokojeni.

Lotnictwo:
