Features of Great Employees. Biznes/ Prawo (dostęp abonamentowy)

They think beyond job descriptions

  • think beyond description – myśleć nieszablonowo
  • adapt to shifting priorities – adaptować się do zmieniających się priorytetów
  • regardless of … – niezależnie od …
  • in jeopardy – w niebezpieczeństwie

The smaller the company, the more important it is that employees can adapt quickly to shifting priorities, regardless of role or position. When customer’s project is in jeopardy, exceptional employees know without being told there’s a problem, and they react without being asked.

They’re … different

  • slightly odd – trochę dziwni, inni, odmienni
  • stretch boundaries – poszerzać granice/ możliwości/ ograniczenia
  • challenge – tutaj: kwestionować/ nie zgadzać się na / poddawać w wątpliwość
  • come up with the best ideas – zgłaszać najlepsze pomysły

The best employees are often a little different: a little eccentric. They seem slightly odd, but in a really good way. Unusual personalities shake things up, make work more fun, and transform team. People who aren’t afraid to be different naturally stretch boundaries and challenge the status quo, and they often come up with the best ideas.

They know when to give up their individuality

  • fit into the team – wpasować się w zespół/ dopasować się do zespołu
  • strike a balance – osiągnąć równowagę

When a major challenge appears or a situation gets stressful, the best employees stop expressing their individuality and fit  into the team. Exceptional employees know when to play and when to be serious and when to challenge and when to back off. It’s a tough balance to strike.

They praise others in public

  • praise – pochwała/ pochwalić
  • look up to … – podziwiać

Praise from a boss feels good. Praise from a peer feels awesome, especially when you look up to that person.

They disagree in private

  • handle in private – rozwiązywać np. problemy w wąskim gronie
  • discuss a sensitive issue- omówić delikatną kwestię

We all want employees to bring issues forward, but some problems are better handled in private. Exceptional employees come to you before or after a meeting to discuss a sensitive issue.

They ask questions when others won’t

  • to be hesitant – wahać się/ zachowywać się niepewnie
  • innate feel – wewnętrzny dar/ wyczucie

Some employees are hesitant to speak up in meetings. Some are even hesitant to speak up privately. Exceptional employees have an innate feel for the issues and concerns of those around them, and step up to ask questions or raise important issues when others hesitate.

They like to prove other people wrong

  • drive is critical – motywacja/ napęd

Self-motivation often springs from a desire to show that doubters are wrong.  Education, intelligence, talent, and skill are important, but drive is critical. Exceptional employees are driven by something deeper and more personal than just the desire to do a good job.

They’re constantly exploring

  • tinker with … – kombinować przy …
  • rework a timeline – ponownie opracować plan
  • adjust a process – dopasować / zmienić proces
  • they just can’t help themselves – po prostu nie mogą się powstrzymać

Some people are rarely satisfied and are constantly tinkering with something: reworking a timeline, adjusting a process. Exceptional employees find ways to reinvent processes, not just because they are expected to… but because they just can’t help themselves.
