Out of a lot of various tutorials on how to live a better and organized life, it seems that the common features and guidelines  always include: do not read everything that gets to your e-mail box, just focus on the most relevant messages rather than trust your memory, write everything down: everybody may find their way to do it, either traditionally on the small pieces of paper or using modern online calendars and organizers.

Science claims sugar is as addictive  as narcotics or nicotine. Sugar becomes the substance of first choice for the laboratory rats during the experiments. Sugar has given us the high since the inception of humanity … in the form of honey and ripe fruit. And now when sugar is so universally available  in the whole range of products- we are hooked.

Giving up may be as hard as resigning from other addictive substances: attention deficit, depression, etc. Advanced science hopes there is the answer in genetics… as we respond to sugar differently.

‘Palermo just like Beirut’ was the headline in an Italian newspaper  in 1992 when 1500 soldiers armed with machine guns kept order in the city . Italy’s mafia wars marked the worst moment in Sicily’s history. Many people thought Palermo had reached a point of no return, but its ability to bounce back from crisis has become a trademark  of a city that has been invaded more often than any other in the Mediterranean.  Something in the town was changing. As the army patrolled Palermo  and its citizens, furious at the bombing and killing, came out on to the streets in their thousands to support the judges and protest against the mafia. Marches and banners alone were not likely to worry the Cosa Nostra, though. The state would have to take measures.

In January 1810 Nicholas Appert won a price of 12,000 francs from the French government for an invention  that would change the world. His process of sealing jars  with cork and wax , then boiling them allowed Napoleon to feed  armies in his campaigns of conquest  across Europe. What containerization did for trade, and the Internet did for communication, canning did for food. We have always modified our food. The conference held (konferencja zorganizowana) in June in California suggested that food is likely to change more in the next 50 years than it has at any time since the days when ambitious military commanders like Napoleon created  great empires.

First of all food crazes will go global faster than ever before. Also speaking at the conference, foodtruck innovator Roy Choi noted that until 2008, foodtrucks were known in Los Angeles as “roach coaches” that catered to working class. For example, 3D printing, which is changing logistics in a number of industries, is already affecting food . Currently,  the technology is used to produce colorful and tasty candies but there is a lot of potential for other things.

To do this, his team of scientists continues to gaze at  plants under microscopes looking for new genetically modified traits. All this may make the anti-GMO crowd furious with the anti-GMOs emphasis at present, but humans have been manipulating their food for a long time. Today there are some 5,000 varieties of potatoes all from a single speciesgrown along the Peruvian-Bolivian border some 7,000 years ago. How food is cooked and foodwaste managed will also change. Both problems are as old as humanity itself.
