Mocno i jednoznacznie: Why don’t you … / You must … / You should … / tryb rozkazujący.

  • biznes: Why don’t you try to find a more suitable person for this position in the team (bardziej odpowiednia osoba na to stanowisko w zespole).
  • technologia: Why don’t you call the contractor and make sure the delivery comes on time (upewnić się, że dostawa przyjdzie na czas).
  • prawo: Why don’t you revise the contract to make sure there are no deficiencies (braki/ luki/ niedociągnięcia).

Pamiętajmy, że po czasownikach modalnych stosujemy bezokolicznik bez ‘to’:

  • lotnictwo: During the emergency situation you must keep calm and answer the questions asked by the ATC officer.
  • medycyna: You must change your lifestyle, otherwise you will suffer from the cardiovascular diseases (choroby układu naczyniowego).

  • lotnictwo: I suggest that you should monitor the fuel consumption more attentively/ lub z formą gerund: I suggest monitoring the fuel consumption more attentively (bardziej uważnie).
  • fitness: I recommend that you should connect proper diet with moderate exercise/ lub z formą gerund: I recommend connecting proper diet with moderate exercise (umiarkowany wysiłek).
  • technologia: Due to the frequent intrusions, we recommend immediate tightening of the security system (natychmiastowe uszczelnienie systemu zabezpieczeń/ systemu bezpieczeństwa).

Delikatnie, choć wszystko zależy od tonu głosu:)! May/ Might:

  • biznes: You might try to do it again but this time with more attention to detail (to zdanie może zabrzmieć naprawdę ostro, mimo dość delikatnej formy “might”)

Neutralnie: You need to …

encourage to … / discourage from… + wyjaśnienie (4 All Users)

–zachęcać/ motywować  do… i zniechęcać do…  Niezwykle ważne i często stosowane, przydatne dwa wyrażenia. Przyimkowy koszmar dla polskich uczniów. Ze względu na bezpośredni charakter tłumaczenia, często popełniamy błąd, nie zauważamy: w języku polskim stosujemy przyimek ‘do’ zarówno po “zachęcać” jak i po “zniechęcać”. W języku angielskim odpowiednich polskiego “do”: ‘to’ stosujemy wyłącznie po ‘encourage’. Po ‘discourage’ stosujemy ‘from’:

Ensue… Analiza zdania (4 All Users)

  • ensue- następować po …/ czasem stosowane także w znaczeniu: i w wyniku tego… należy pamiętać, że ensue jest czasownikiem i zwrócić uwagę na szyk zdania. Ensue jest uznawane za synonim follow. Jest bardzo modnym ostatnio słowem w kontekstach formalnych. 

w medycynie:

The patient was stung by the bee and the severe allergic reaction ensued – Pacjent został użądlony przez pszczołę i nastąpiła ostra reakcja alergiczna.

w technologii:

The loss of important databases ensued the series of intrusions to the system – Strata ważnych baz danych nastąpiła po serii włamań do systemu.

w kosmetyce:

The smoothening of the skin ensued the application of the new cream – W wyniku zastosowania nowego kremu skóra została wygładzona.
